About Dr. Rene Moncion, DO

Dr. Rene Moncion, DO, known to the Reliance team as “Doc,” founded Reliance Medical Transport in 2014 while serving as an emergency medicine physician in Hampton Roads. Prior to founding Reliance, he served 11 years in the U.S. Navy, first as a petty officer and later as a naval officer.

A Virginia Beach resident and military veteran, Doc remains actively involved with the Reliance team and the communities the company serves. The principles of service, accountability, and teamwork that shaped his military career continue to influence his leadership and the culture of Reliance today.

Doc personally introduces new employees to Reliance’s mission and core values. Of those values, compassion, integrity, and humility resonate most strongly with him. He believes leadership begins with demonstrating the same standards expected of others and encourages employees to hold him accountable to those values as well.

“I cannot demand our core values from others if I am not living them myself,” he says. “Keeping those values at the center of what we do keeps me grounded and accountable.”

As a privately owned, veteran-owned, and locally owned company, Reliance’s leadership remains closely connected to its employees, patients, healthcare partners, and communities. Decisions are made with those relationships — and the people behind them — in mind.
